WMGA is meant for experienced and competitive basketball players who plan to play the point guard or shooting guard position in high school. Small forwards who will most likely be guards when they get to middle and high school are invited. This is not a camp for beginners. If your son is going to be in grade 5-9 and has played basketball competitively, then this is a unique opportunity in West Michigan for your son to grow as a student of the game.
Camp will focus on all guard skills – on the court and off. Classroom sessions will include lectures (with players taking notes in their WMGA notebooks) about various aspects of guard play including game management, “coachability,” communication, leadership and special situations. Guest speakers each day will discuss key components of successful guard play.
Players will be split by age for all activities and classroom sessions. Staff members will be led by Coach George and will include many former players who have played guard successfully at the high school and college level. This camp will change the way your son plays and understands the game.
